This Korean cabinet was a gift from my Aunt. It's over 55 years old. You should have seen the 3 daughter-in-laws faces when she told all of us that she was giving it to me! AWKWARD moment...I did well not showing my excitement. Sorry I digress, but this is where I've put my mostest favorite fabric I like to look at.
Then I have in the corner, 4 shoe sized containers. They hold left over jellyrolls, charms, scraps. And the white bag in front holds backing material I have.
The 4 boxes hold the rest of my fabric treasure! I can't wait for the day, I get some kind of container/cabinet unit to organize my fabric better.
Here is my magazine/book collection. I have 6 magazines & 9 books.
Here is my kit collection...I have 4 kits (so far...hehehe!)
And last, this is where I keep my pattern collection - all 9 of them!
Ok, one more picture...this is my most favorite piece. Boutique. I just love looking at it! I don't have any plans for this bundle and that's okay with me.
And here I thought - I feel like a squirrel storing nuts for winter! Compared to everyone else, I need more nuts!!! LOL! But I do know that Rome was not built in a day...
So I'm envisioning myself as Superman (Christopher Reeve), standing on a mountain top looking over a valley of quilt stores, with my big red cape flapping in the wind. I feel the sun on my face, the wind whipping through my hair & the theme music blaring all around me. I AM ON A MISSION! A mission to build a bigger stash! I know it will take years but it is a mission I'm willing to accept! Thank you to all the ladies who have inspired me!
I love how your stash is displayed. That cabinet is amazing. I so love Boutique. I definitely have to buy some.
ReplyDeleteGreat cabinet and good stuff! Don't worry, soon enough you'll be wondering how you accumulated so much crap! Give it time, it will come! ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI adore the way you have displayed your stash and don't fret when I started quilting about four years ago my entire stash, if you could call it that, was stored in an ex-chocolates box about 8" square!! I think (I am typing this tentatively) I would almost be prepared to swap my entire stash for your glorious cabinet though, wow, I can imagine the DiL's were a little put out!! Great post, I love your display skills, thanks for sharing it, it puts my plastic stacking boxes to shame!
ReplyDeleteI need more nuts too! I only have a small corner of the living room for my sewing and I'm trying to keep it organized in plastic tubs.
ReplyDeleteWow what a wonderful cabinet! Your stash will grow, no worries. I love your displays and use of crystal bowls and cake plates. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour room is just so neat and tidy...and what a cute display!
ReplyDeleteMichelle that cabinet is absolutely stunning! You have a lovely start to your stash, it's bigger than mine, dear one - but I've been moving in the opposite direction with my stash, lol. Been trying to cut down so I can actually sew!
ReplyDeleteI love your stash story--and believe me when you aren't looking your stash will just grow--just like the dust bunnies--and you will wonder where it came from and how you are going to use it all up!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Di
I am back---I must find me one of those glass covered cake stand dishes and put some fabric and goodies under it--what a great idea--that is if it is ok with you????
ReplyDeleteHug, Di
What a beautiful cabinet! Wow! That is just a perfect way to display your stash. And, don't despair, the stash will grow bit by bit....
ReplyDeleteI dont have a big stash either, but I am ok with it....I buy for the project only.......sometimes I envy all the lovely stacks of fabric, but when I get fabric it is new and fresh and I am ready to use it......
ReplyDeleteI love the cabinet you used to display your fabrics. It's gorgeous and the fabrics look so nice sitting there. I love your idea of putting fabrics into the covered cake plate. I am going have to borrow your idea. I have a Princess House cake plate just sitting on my bar empty. I am going to go and make it look pretty like yours.
ReplyDeleteWay to put on those "big girl panties" and share your stash LOL! And, I think you're doing great considering you're so new to the quilting game! In 6 or 7 years, you'll put Polly and me to shame!!! I love the cabinet that you store your precuts in - and I heart the cake plate with the FQB of Boutique! Thanks so much for sharing - and making me giggle!
ReplyDeleteHave I told you lately how much I like you? You just make me smile - a BIG smile !!!
ReplyDeleteTake flight - to some serious quilt shops and stock your stash.
Better yet - why not send me your address and I might have a little something for you.......for REAL. Please email me your snail mail and see what flies your way.
Michelle you are so organized...and funny! I think your stash is just right. When it gets too big; complication also follows! What to do with what??? and there never seems to be enough! I love your cabinet!
ReplyDeleteI think you have somemore somewhere and your not telling us about all of it!!!!!
