Mini Quilt in Urban Cowgirl

This is the mini that Michele made for me...I LOVE IT!!!  As soon as I opened my box, I couldn't stop giggling...heck I'm still giggling!  At first I thought the fabric was from American Jane but it's Urban Cowgirl.  This is the 4th piece of quilt art that I have received in the 3 years I have been blogging.  For now, I have them displayed hanging on a dress form.
Thank you Michele for such a lovely mini!  Thank you Kris for hosting such a fun swap!

Sorry for the delay...the winner is Anne & she wrote 'Love the colors in your HST table topper. Beautiful work!'.  I've sent her an email requesting her snail mail address.  Thanks for all the wonderful comments!

Day 5 of the Table Topper Blog Hop

Well, I hope you have enjoyed all the toppers that have been shown so far...I know I have.  There are several I've put on my list to!
This is my first topper.  My first Ackfeldwire stand (love it!).  I've always wanted to make a hst quilt & for now this will have to!  I had left over triangles from my Charming Stars quilt & I just couldn't throw them away.  Instead I went ahead & sewed them together...and BAM! table topper!  And now looking at this picture, I should have added another column and 2 rows.  I was just so darn excited making it, I didn't make the right size for my stand.  Well, I have several squares left so I just might do a 'do over'.  If I do, y'all will be the first to know.

Listed below are the other ladies showing off their toppers today so be sure to check them out:
Michelle (that's me!)
And to keep with the 'mini' theme, GIVEAWAY...a mini charm pack (these are too cute!)...just leave me a comment.  I'll draw on the 26th.

Thanks to the fabulous Ms. Samm for hosting such a fun event.  The fun continues next Monday through Wednesday.  You can click here to see who's next.

Have a wonderful weekend!

6 months ago I get an email about making 3 quilts and now they are done!  It truly has been an amazing process!

I finished these quilts a couple of weeks ago.  Instead of t-shirts, I was given drawings (made by children in the class) to use in the quilts.  The first girly-girl quilt is for Jodi's daughter.  She picked the Michael Miller peace print and the pink fabric - too cute!  As for the other 2, we worked together to create a non-gender theme because they will be auctioned off at the school's banquet fundraiser.  I can't wait to show you the next quilt I've finished.

Scrubs made into a quilt...

I finished this lap sized quilt about 2 weeks ago.  Jen had this made for her husband.  He just finished his dental internship...I couldn't help but think of Dr. McDreamy (work with me)!  All the blue fabric is made up of the scrubs, the yellow represents the Marquette University school colors and I found dental fabric to use as the border.  It measures about 60x60.  I think it would look nice as a wall hanging.

I've been busy sewing.  As soon as Jodi receives her 3 quilts, I'll do another post.  Have a great week!

Emma by Northcott

This is my second finish this year.  Mary Ellen wanted me to make a small, old fashion baby quilt.  She wanted it to be girly with pinks and greens.  She let me decide everything else.  I was inspired by the quilt I did from the Half-Pint Quilt Along back in 2009.  There is just something special about a 9-patch block.  The fabric line is Emma by Northcott.  The quilt is so much prettier in person.  I love how the back turned out.

My first finish for 2012...

This is a Valentine's gift for Courteney's boyfriend.  Is he going to be!  The 4 blue squares are from a duvet cover he had in college.  I just love hearing the stories behind the shirts/fabric.

My first window appearance.

(photo taken from the JEllen's House of Fabric blog)

Talk about being over the moon!  If you thought you heard someone yell 'WHOHOO!' this was me...LOL!  My Schnibbles State Fair (in Bliss) is on display at the JEllen's House of Fabric quilt store.  She did a post showing her window today, you can read about it here.  If you get a chance to go to her blog, take a minute and read her story.  She is one amazing woman.

My random drawing program (aka my son) picked:  SUNNY!

I'd love to do a post about the quilt I just finished but it's in the process of being shipped to Arizona.  It's going to be a Valentine's gift for her boyfriend...too sweet!  I want her to see it before I post a picture of it...maybe this weekend.  It's already February!?!?!  I've been in lurker mode and will be in lurker mode for a while.  Even though I can't be a part of some of the cool groups out there, it sure has been fun reading/seeing your posts about your projects.

Jan 27, 2012

The year has started out with a bang!  The commercial version...pee-wee basketball has started, I have several quilts I've been commissioned to make, OH! - the fuel pump in my car gave out New Year's Biloxi!, it's still in Biloxi and thankfully I had my mom's car to drive back home.  Now I just have to figure out when I'm going back down to get it.  I am in lurker mode in blogland (hopefully not for long).  And a bunch of other stuff has happened but I want to keep this post short...

Anyhoo, I thought I'd take a break tonight and make some key chains.  I saw the recipe on the Moda Bake Shop Blog and I knew I had to make can find it right here.  Then I went on Etsy and placed an order (here).  They were really fun to make!
How about a GIVEAWAY?!?!?!?

If you would like the chance to win one of these key chains (my choice), just leave me a comment.  NOTICE...I am not a professional key chain maker!  These are my practice key chains so there will be a flaw here or!  I will announce and contact the winner on February 4th.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Clever ideas to make life easier...

***These are not my!  A friend of mind sent me this email & I just had to share it. (I like the wrapping paper idea & the fitted sheet).
Stop cut apples from browning in your child's lunch box by securing with a rubber band.

Overhaul your linen cupboard, store bed linen sets inside one of their own pillowcases and there will be no more hunting through piles for a match.

Pump up the volume by placing your iPhone & iPod in a bowl.  The concave shape amplifies the music.
Use wire to make a space to store gift wrap rolls against the ceiling, rather than cluttering up the floor.

Make an instant cupcake carrier by cutting crosses into a box lid.

For those who can't stand the scrunching and bunching:  how to perfectly fold a fitted sheet.
Forever losing your bathroom essentials?  Use a magnetic strip to store bobby pins, tweezers and clippers behind a vanity door.

Bread tags make the perfect cord labels.

Create a window-box veggie patch using guttering.

Pretty neat ideas!

Accessory Bag Swap...

Kris over at Dandelion Quilts is hosting another fabulous swap.  If your into accessory bags, this is the one you'll want to join.  She makes the prettiest things!  Jen of Miss Punkie Pie is in the swap & you might get her as your partner.  She also makes the prettiest things.  We were swap partners for a pin cushion swap & she made me the most coolest pin cushion & here to see!  I digress, anyhoo...Kris throws some of the best parties!  I believe you have until the 12th to sign up but don't take my word for it, just click here for all the information.  I'm not a bag maker so I'm just going to watch from the sidelines and oooohhh and aahhhh at all the creations when they are done.
