Happy Daisy - Schnibbles Times Two Contest

After looking through the pages over & over again, I finally decided on the pattern - Plan C (small version).  The fabric on the other hand was a little more tough.  I could have used Old Primrose Inn (my Mother's day gift) but I wanted something different (imagine that...lol!).  Happy Daisy by Urban Chiks.  It is such a fun line.  When I got in the mail several days ago and opened the package - it made me smile.

My first Schnibbles adventure begins...

(ps...there is oodles of time left, if you want to join in on the fun...just click on the Schnibbles picture on the upper right side of my blog to get all the contest info on Kelly's blog)

My quilting journey...

June 1989
I feel like my journey started about 20 years ago because it was during this time I became facinated by quilts. I wanted to make one. So, I bought this book:
with the intention of making my first quilt. I read & studied the pages over and over again. Looking and admiring the pictures over and over again. For reasons I can't remember, I put the book up & never made my quilt. BUT - the desire to make a quilt was never forgotten, it was on my 'LIST'.

September 2008
This is when my journey starts rolling. The fair is in town and the exhibits were brought up during a lunch discussion. I mentioned that I always wanted to make a quilt. Well, Teresa says 'Let's make a quilt to submit in next year's fair.' Alrighty then, lets!

November 2008
I ended up finishing my first top.  I'm so thankful that Teresa told me about pre-cut squares, it made the process easy. And that was a nice option because I did it by hand. Then I started on making a Christmas throw (by hand) with Candy Land - my first experience with Moda! Very exciting!  I still have about 1/2 of it to quilt - by hoop. It's a UFO! LOL!

April/May 2009
I came across Kelly's store and noticed she had a blog.  I knew what a blog was but never had interest in reading anyone's blog. So I clicked on it - WOW! It was a blog about quilting! Who knew? VERY EXCITING!

June 2009
A very sweet lady, Louise, who crochets, knits, sews, embroiders...asks if I would be interested in a Gammill she purchased about 11 years ago. I'm thinking...NO WAY!!! Good thing I met Kelly because she answered a bunch of questions I had about quilting machines. I would have asked Louise but she never took it out of the box.

July 2009
I joined the Charming Girls' Quilt Club. Which has the most amazing, talented ladies I've ever (not) met. I'm also lucky to have a few ladies I work with that I can share my hobby with.

August 2009
I started my blog. Where I've met more amazing & talented ladies I've ever (not) met.

I feel like one of those snow balls that gets bigger as it's rolling down the hill. And as I'm rolling, I can't stop giggling! I'm still giggling! All I needed was a little push...thanks Teresa! Well, as of today, I have completed 7 quilt tops & quilted 12 quilts. So far, it has been an amazing ride! Can it get any better than this? LOL!

Spring Quilt Festival

Amy is hosting another great party - The Spring Quilt Festival!

This quilt was made in top secret.  I completed it in November & had it under the tree this past Christmas.  It was the first time I actually followed a pattern.  After making a couple of quilts last year, my little guy asked me to make him one.  So it was fun to be able to make it without him knowing.  The look on his face Christmas morning was AWESOME!
Amy - Thank you for doing this festival!  I can't wait to do some blog hopping!

Thanks for stopping by!

Let the fun begin!

My Schnibbles Times Two book came in today! VERY EXCITING! I guess this means...the fun has officially begun! This book is AWESOME!  I guess the next step is to pick the pattern? Or do you pick the fabric? Anyhoo, I have time to figure it out.  The funny thing is...I've never made a Schnibbles (I'm glad I'm not the only one).  Good thing that wasn't a requirement for the contest. By no means am I a professional but the whole 'contest' idea has brought my quilting mojo back!  And t-ball will be over in a week & a half.

If there is anyone out there 'thinking' about it - JUST DO IT!  It will be TONS OF FUN!  The more the merrier!  You can go to Kelly's Post to check out the details - there's still plenty of time.

Pea Green with Envy!

That's how I feel, seeing everyone's 'STASH'.  It makes me feel like an amateur!  LOL!  Okay, so this is the corner of my sewing room where I keep my stash.  I originally had the 'pretty' things my Mom & Aunt gave me, sitting on these 2 cabinets.  But eventually I moved those items into the drawers & cabinet space (where you can't see them).  Luckily, my Mom wasn't upset with me hiding all the 'nice' stuff she had given me.
This Korean cabinet was a gift from my Aunt.  It's over 55 years old.  You should have seen the 3 daughter-in-laws faces when she told all of us that she was giving it to me!  AWKWARD moment...I did well not showing my excitement.  Sorry I digress, but this is where I've put my mostest favorite fabric I like to look at.
Then I have in the corner, 4 shoe sized containers.  They hold left over jellyrolls, charms, scraps.  And the white bag in front holds backing material I have.
The 4 boxes hold the rest of my fabric treasure!  I can't wait for the day, I get some kind of container/cabinet unit to organize my fabric better.
 Here is my magazine/book collection.  I have 6 magazines & 9 books.
Here is my kit collection...I have 4 kits (so far...hehehe!)

And last, this is where I keep my pattern collection - all 9 of them!
Ok, one more picture...this is my most favorite piece.  Boutique.  I just love looking at it!  I don't have any plans for this bundle and that's okay with me.
And here I thought - I feel like a squirrel storing nuts for winter!  Compared to everyone else, I need more nuts!!! LOL!  But I do know that Rome was not built in a day...

So I'm envisioning myself as Superman (Christopher Reeve), standing on a mountain top looking over a valley of quilt stores, with my big red cape flapping in the wind.  I feel the sun on my face, the wind whipping through my hair & the theme music blaring all around me.  I AM ON A MISSION!  A mission to build a bigger stash!  I know it will take years but it is a mission I'm willing to accept!  Thank you to all the ladies who have inspired me!

April

What a month! It's kind of weird doing a post because it seems like FOREVER since I have written one.  Well, I didn't get my one project done for April.  I didn't even touch my sewing machine!

T-ball.  It started about 6 weeks ago & it has been non-stop since.  Who knew I'd have to get a planner to keep track of my son's schedule!  It took me pretty much the whole month to figure out some kind of system -sort of.  And with all the excitement going on, this being my first 'soccer mom' gig, I'm LOVING' IT!  Thanks to all of you who checked up on me to make sure I was okay.

And I'm sure most of you know what's in store for May & June, how cool!  If you haven't, you need to check Kelly's post out.

I also received this award from Jan:
Thank you! And if you would like to check out a really amazing women, you should take a look at Jan's blog.  She's also in the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along.  She's doing it in the Red, White & Blue!

I believe May is going to be a better month!  I can't wait to see what everyone is working on.  I have a lot of catching up to do.  I hope everyone is doing well.  Talk to y'all later...
