Irene - Month 3

I managed to get the Good Night Irene quilt top done!

Apr 19, 2011

This past weekend the weather here was wonderful.  We spent a good part of it outside.  It was sunny & really breezy.  We had all the windows open.  And throughout the day, we had the sweet smell of honey suckle drifting all around the front of the house & throughout the living room!  This vine is growing on our front porch.  I'm enjoying the spring time much more this year.
I've been working on this quilt for a lady in the next town.  I finally finished the top.  Now I just have to quilt & bind it.
After I finish the t-shirt quilt, this is what I'll be working on!  If you were to see & touch these vintage sheets/fabrics, you would start giggling!  Talk about fabric envy, these beauties belong to Gail.  I'm going to make her a patchwork quilt.  I can't wait to get started.

Enjoy the rest of the week...talk to y'all later...

Handful of Change Quilt (aka Coin Quilt)

Just finished this top this morning...it's my version of a coin quilt.  I used 12 Days of Christmas by Kate Spain.  I used all the material that was in a scrap bag, 15 (?) charms and back round material.  I might be able to quilt it tonight.  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Christmas Wreath Update...

I just finished the top - very cute!  I really like this pattern.  You can find it on the Moda Bake Shop Blog.  Now I just need to quilt it but I guess I need to quilt the Halloween 'Scratch' first.

T-shirt Quilt Update...

The top is almost done.  I just have to add a border to the top & bottom.  I can honestly say, up to this point, I've enjoyed all the steps.  The only thing that irked me a little was the 4 corner shirts because they were different sizes but in the end I figured it out.  I didn't know how 'Send in the Crowns' by Michael Miller would do with this type of quilt.
Seeing it in person - I really, really like how it turned out.  Besides using this line for the sashing, border and binding it will also be the backing.  I plan to have this quilt completed by next Sunday.

Well, the weather today was WONDERFUL!  It was in the lower 70's, breezy and cool.  It was a beautiful weekend!  Fall is coming!!!!  I hope you have a great week!

Decoy...

the top is done - finally!  I love this fabric & pattern!  I can't wait to make another one!  LOL!  Oh, and a big shout out to - KRIS, thank you for doing a post on the Angler...it sure came in handy for this pattern.  I also finished a runner for my mom but like a winner - I forgot to take a picture.  She picked Nostalgia and liked what I made so that's all that matters.

Let me tell you, after the sewing party, the past week and a half has been busy ( a good kind of busy).  It's been so busy I haven't sewed, blogged or been able to surf  blog land.  But that's okay, for now I'll just have to be a lurker and once things start to settle down I can get back into a groove.  So, my status for now will have to be 'Lurker'...lol!  I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to seeing what y'all have been up too.  Which reminds me I need to post my CGQC goals!?!?!?!?!

State Fair in Bliss

I finished the top last night!  And I LOVE it!!!  I don't know if I love the pattern more or Bliss or both.
I would have gotten it done faster but life happens.  I can't wait to get this one quilted but I'm going to wait until the yardage is available.  I want to use an aqua for the binding.  Well, now that I'm done with State Fair, I need to put a step in it and get the runner done for my Mom.

MCGUFFEY...big.

This is really a pretty pattern.  You can see big blocks of the fabric and that's one thing I like about this pattern.  Speaking of fabric, Holly Taylor...AWESOME.  When I use dark colors, I have to step out of my comfort zone.  But the colors she uses are just elegant.  I've seen her lines here and there.  I even have some Migration in my stash but after using Northwood Botanicals - I love her!

Quick update...

Hope everyone had a fun & safe 4th!  We did!  I just wanted to share a few tops I finished.
With this first top, I was inspired by Lisa - Crafty Little Mama. This one needs to be quilted & binded then mailed out asap:

This one needs to be quilted & binded.  Just wanting for the panto:
This is my CGQC quilt that I need to quilt & bind.  Too bad the picture came out a little dark - it's much prettier in person.  The lime color reminds me of that song...You put the lime in the coconut, I said DOCTOR...anyhoo...
I finally finished my Astor Manor scrap bag baby recipe...it's a very fun & simple pattern.  I love it!  You can find it on the Moda Bake Shop.
Then I couldn't help myself & went ahead and did one in Nautical & Nice.

Stripping...(not the pole kind - lol!)

I've had the Spring Fever jellyroll staring at me for some time now.  So, I went ahead and busted it open.  I was so excited, I forgot to take a picture of it.  Anyhoo, I made this cute little quilt top.  It measures approx. 40x59. The colors just sing 'SPRING IS COMING!!!'.

ps...let me just say - 'IF' there was a pole, I would have snapped that sucker in half. LOL!

2nd CGGQC February Finish!

Not to sound snobbish but I am in awe of this top.  Also, I can't believe I did it.  This was my first kit and it was intimidating (scary & fun at the same time)!!!  How many of you are thinking back to your first kit?  What a crazy month it has been.  Now I just need to quilt & bind it...

A CGGQC Finish...

I know I did a post a couple of weeks ago that the Verna top (b-day gift for my sister) was done but I can now say that it's really done.  The only problem is, I don't like it for my sister.  I'll spare you all the blah, blah boring stuff...so in a nut shell, last night I ordered some Boutique from Kelly.  There is a really simple pattern in the Fons&Porter, Fall09, pg 56 magazine I want to do instead.  It says you should be able to do it in a day.  I guess I'm going to find out.  So until the fabric comes in, I'll be working on the Rouenneries quilt.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Verna Top Done...

I finished the top this morning. I wanted to make sure I got it pressed before the Superbowl started.  Well, the first half of the game was not very exciting so I thought I'd just go ahead and do the post for my first CGGQC finish for February. I love the line & pattern, I just don't know if I like my top. Since I'm waiting for the batting to come in...I went ahead and started pressing the fabric for Rouenneries. Hope everyone has a great week!

The Mini Me Half Pint Quilt top...

is DONE!  I finished it last night.  I would show you a picture of it but you'll have to wait.  I want to be able to take a picture of it outside and that won't happen until Saturday.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!  Is it 5 o'clock yet?

Half Pint Quilt Along - Top

It's done!  And I'm just lovin' it!  (the picture doesn't do the fabric any justice)  I love the pattern, the fabric, the little square borders - EVERYTHING about it!!! But the most bestest part is - I'm making this quilt with a bunch of talented ladies.  I can't wait to get this quilted.

Dinosaur Uproar - DONE!

The quilt top is done!  I'm really please with how it turned out.  As some of you know, I was only able to work on it when my little one was away from the house.  So as of right now, I have completed one of my CCGC (hosted by Joan this month) projects.

I'm hoping to post a picture of my mini quilt for the swap later today.  Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.

Blueberry Surprise is done.

I'm going to mark this top done for the CGQC.

Blueberry Surprise Quilt Top

I'm pretty much done.  Not sure if I want to add a border or not...I have time to figure that one out.  This is from the jellyroll my husband got me - not bad.  I like the colors, I just don't care for the fabric.  It reminds me of that batik stuff.  I would never say anything to my husband because I am always grateful/thankful for gifts I receive.  I just wouldn't buy that kind of fabric on my own, it's not my style.

Anyhoo, I have 2 sick guys on my hands this weekend...one with still some chest pains & was told by the doctor to do nothing over the holiday weekend.  The other little one, woke up with a 101.1 fever Saturday morning and is still sick.  So yesterday (& today) I was able to relax with some sewing when they took their naps.  I hate it for both of them because they love to be outside.  I'm just the opposite.  Til next time...have fun sewing!
