T-Shirt Quilt in Riley Blake Yellow Chevron

I finished this quilt for Alana several weeks ago.  This is the first time I've used Riley Blake chevron.  The quilt is so much cooler in person.  I love how the kona cotton cardinal matched the shirt in the center of the second row.  Alana wanted yellow for the backing. I didn't have a sample of the yellow chevron fabric so I guessed at which yellow would match.  I first picked canary but when the fabrics arrived - it was too bright!  Now that I had the yellow chevron in person...I was able to use my Robert Kaufman color chart & the perfect match is 'CORN'!!!  It took me a little longer to get the quilt but done Alana was happy with the quilt and that made me happy!

1st finish for 2014 - ARMY Quilt

This is my first finish for 2014.  I actually finished this quilt several weeks ago but I wanted to make sure that Amber had the chance to see it first before I did a post.  She picked fabrics from the Stonehenge line by Linda Ludovico & Deborah Edwards for Northcott.  The fabric she picked was perfect!

Arkansas Razorback T-Shirt Quilt

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!  I finished this quilt last week.  It was a Christmas present for Joyce's husband.  I really like the red and black color combination.  I used the University of Arkansas print by Sykel Ent. and Robert Kaufman Kona cotton black.  Not sure if I'm going to have any other finishes this year but I am looking forward to picking out the fabric for Terry's sew-along.  If you think you might be interested in joining, you can go here and check out Terry's blog to find out more information.

T-shirt quilt made out of scrubs/white coats.

A couple of months ago I get an email from Molly saying she had all of her husband's scrubs/white coats and wanted a quilt made.  I just finished the quilt last week.  It's going to be a Christmas present for him.  She picked In The Navy by Jackie Studios for Camelot Cottons. The quilt is so much more cooler looking in person.  It's very modern.  The picture just doesn't do it any justice.  I bet he's going to be surprised!

Log-A-Load for Kids Quilt 2013

This is a special quilt.  I made it for the Log-A-Load for Kids banquet we had in August.  Log-A-Load for Kids is where the logging industry, in Arkansas, raises money for the Children's Hospital located in Little Rock.  There are many other states that are associated with this group that donate to their own children's hospitals.  This quilt was made with donated t-shirts.

Dream On

A friend of mine gave me a tumbler template a couple of years ago.  I started this quilt last year.  Since I was waiting for a fabric order to come in, I figured I should just finish it.  And it was a great feeling to get it done.  I used Dream On by Urban Chiks.

4 t-shirt quilts in 3 months

I love making these kinds of quilts.  The icing on the cake is when the person receives it and tells me that they are happy with it.  I have a few more to make but I have realized that I have not made a quilt for me...in a long time.  Terry over at Terry's Treasures is starting a sew-along in January.  You can see how it's pieced on a You Tube video on her post.
It's a pretty pattern.  Before I commit - I'm going to take a few days to chew on it but if this pattern speaks to you, you should check it out.

The Terrible Towel Quilt

I have to admit, this quilt was exciting to make.  I've never worked with towels before so I scoured the net to find the best way to put this kind of quilt together.  There was some information out there but after all the research, planning & thinking about the best ways to put this kind of quilt together...I ended up making this quilt backwards.  It turned out just the way I wanted it.  The lady I made it for was happy and that is all that matters to me.  Hope everyone is have a great summer!

UARK T-Shirt Quilt

This is my 3rd finish as of last week.  I had it delivered just in time for Jonetta's son graduation. She picked a gray toned fabric by Marcus Fabrics called Modern Method by Studio 37.  Looking at the picture, the quilt looks so much better in person.  This is one manly looking quilt.

UCA T-Shirt Quilt

This is my second finish for this year.  I was asked to keep the high school shirts on the top part of the quilt and the college shirts on the bottom.  The purple kona cotton (& ash) was a perfect match.  I'm proud of how this quilt turned out.

Have a Happy Mother's Day!

6 months ago I get an email about making 3 quilts and now they are done!  It truly has been an amazing process!

I finished these quilts a couple of weeks ago.  Instead of t-shirts, I was given drawings (made by children in the class) to use in the quilts.  The first girly-girl quilt is for Jodi's daughter.  She picked the Michael Miller peace print and the pink fabric - too cute!  As for the other 2, we worked together to create a non-gender theme because they will be auctioned off at the school's banquet fundraiser.  I can't wait to show you the next quilt I've finished.

Scrubs made into a quilt...

I finished this lap sized quilt about 2 weeks ago.  Jen had this made for her husband.  He just finished his dental internship...I couldn't help but think of Dr. McDreamy (work with me)....lol!  All the blue fabric is made up of the scrubs, the yellow represents the Marquette University school colors and I found dental fabric to use as the border.  It measures about 60x60.  I think it would look nice as a wall hanging.

I've been busy sewing.  As soon as Jodi receives her 3 quilts, I'll do another post.  Have a great week!

Emma by Northcott

This is my second finish this year.  Mary Ellen wanted me to make a small, old fashion baby quilt.  She wanted it to be girly with pinks and greens.  She let me decide everything else.  I was inspired by the quilt I did from the Half-Pint Quilt Along back in 2009.  There is just something special about a 9-patch block.  The fabric line is Emma by Northcott.  The quilt is so much prettier in person.  I love how the back turned out.

My first finish for 2012...

This is a Valentine's gift for Courteney's boyfriend.  Is he going to be surprised...lol!  The 4 blue squares are from a duvet cover he had in college.  I just love hearing the stories behind the shirts/fabric.

Schnibbles Scratch...DONE!

I finished this baby over the weekend! From start to finish, it only took over a year...can I get a WHOHOO? LOL!  I had to go to my Flickr page to see when I finished the quilt top...I got it done back in September of last year.  I quilted it with a lime green variegated thread...it definitely gives it a freaky feel.

I was inspired by Shelia's version made with Swanky.  I LOVE Swanky.  You can see Shelia's Schnibble here.

The colors in this quilt makes my heart smile.  It's a happy quilt.  I was inspired to make this one by 2 quilts I recently made (Thanks Barbie & Erin!).  I used the bright colors from the Remix line by Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman.  Then I added more bold colors from the Kona Solids...YUM!  I think I need to get some more of the Remix & Kona...LOL!

Is it just me or does anyone else think of Kona COFFEE when they see the words Kona Solids?  Anyhoo, I digress...

The second one was for a sweet gal that wanted a quilt made for an anniversary present for her husband...I know...too cute!  I loved how she wanted me to use a special pair of plaid shorts & shirt in this quilt.  I would have loved to have gone on 'The Price is Right' show!!! lol!

I've been busy sewing!  And that's a good thing, but that also means I've been in 'lurker' mode.  I haven't been able to leave comments like I used too but I've been watching you...I know that sounded a little creepy but ya know what I mean...hehe!

Have a great weekend!

Remix by Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman

This is what I've been working on & I just finished it yesterday.  Erin wanted the Remix fabric by Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman, with Kona solids.  She wanted the softer colors.  Well, when I went to look at the fabric she was talking about, I fell in love with the entire line.  It's such a girly, vibrant line.  So, when I placed the order, yep...I picked out some fabric for me! BIG GIGGLE!  I hope to have my quilt done soon.

Anyhoo, I've been in lurker mode...school, flag football, 3 orders for quilts and other life stuff...it's been hard to keep everything balanced.  Somethings gotta give...& it's blogging, until I can get balanced.  lol!

Have a wonderful week!

A Razorback & 4 Wonky Stars

I needed to let my hair down so I created this.  I would have made a Green Bay Packer one for my dh or a Miami Dolphin one for my ds but I didn't have the fabric.  Maybe for Christmas?

I'm gonna lick me a rainbow!

If any of you have watched Shrek 4 (the best one out of the series - my opinion), I just quoted Donkey...LOL!  The colors in the quilt just make it sparkle.  I just finished this quilt this past weekend.  I'm excited to say, she was more than pleased with the quilt.  And the best part, she thanked & hugged me for doing such a good job.  That's definitely a good feeling!  Now I have some 'ME' time to work on what I want & to do some blog surfing.  I'm going to save that for this weekend.
