Irene - Month 3

I managed to get the Good Night Irene quilt top done!

1st 5 blocks done.

I've been sick the last 5-7 days.  Today is the first day I feel normal.  Thank goodness because the AFC & NFC Championship football games are today.  Since I'm here - GO BRONCOS!  GO SEAHAWKS!  While I was sick I was not able to do any sewing.  So I had to put Amber's quilt on hold.  But last night, even though I was still a little out of it, I went ahead and whipped up my 5 blocks.  I think I'm going to like the yellow.  I hope everyone is enjoying this sew-along.  I love the nice, slow pace!  If you'd like to check it out, just click on the Goodnight Irene picture on the right side.  Have a great week!

EDIT AFTER POSTING...maybe I should have waited to feel better before sewing?  Instead of an 'X' block, I sewed 'O' blocks...lol!  I'll fix them later.

Good Night Irene Sew-Along

The fun has started!  Terry of Terry's Treasures is hosting a sew-along and we are going to be making a quilt called Good Night Irene.  It should measure about 48x48 plus an outer border.  My background fabric came in the other day but I'm going to have to hold off on starting because I am in the middle of finishing up a quilt.  So I decided to use Spring House by Stephanie Ryan.  I picked this line because of the pinks, blues, greens & yellows.  After thinking about the background fabric, I knew I didn't want to use white.  I decided on yellow.  I feel like it will work but I'll know as soon as I start putting it together.  We only have to make 5 blocks this month and it's going to be fun to see the different fabric choices.  If you feel like you want to join in, just click here for more information.  Hope everyone has a good week...stay safe and warm!

Wonky Log Cabin Blocks

I managed to work on my wonky log cabin blocks and do some work on my sister's BFF's quilt today.  I'm hoping to have both quilts done by this weekend.  But it's been so cold, all I want to do is ball up like a big ol' bear! lol!  Hope y'all are staying warm!

Change of plans...

Imagine that! lol!  So here I'm thinking I'm going to work on my wonky log cabin quilt...BUT I found out that DeeRooo & Old Red Barn Co. are doing another quilt along - round #9 - TICKER TAPE QUILT!!!!  Ever since I've seen it on Crazy Mom Quilts blog, I've wanted to make one. 

SOOOO, I'm going to join the party.  I had tons of fun with the rail fence quilt along and I just loved the wonky log cabin (until I hit a speedbump) quilt along.  I believe this will be a fun ride!  If your interested, it just started so it's not too late to join in on the fun!

My heart is in this project!!! (big smile)

My first project for 2011...

I joined Quilt Dad & ORB's Wonky Log Cabin QAL...way back & I never finished.  As I look back as to why I didn't finish - that awful feeling of disappointment just resurfaced.  See, I picked this color - teal -  to use as the sashing & border for the quilt and it was pretty on the screen but when my order came in, seeing the true color just turned me off from the project completely.  And as I look back, I can't figure out why I just didn't use white?  Well, I'm crossing it off my list now.  I'm using M.E.'s Recipe for Friendship and I just love the colors.  I love the wonky look.  I can't wait to get this top done.

ps...this will be my only goal for the CGQC for Jan/Feb.

Between Charming Quilt Along - FINISHED!!!

I just hate how the picture does not do the colors in this quilt justice...ANYHOO!  Well, I ordered the 'Double Bubble - Petite' pantograph and after I got done with it - it should be called 'Double Square' LOL!  This is the first time I did a pantograph on Bessie.  For now, I can say - been there done that.  And besides this being one great pattern, I was really excited about the thread color I used to quilt this baby!  I used a purpley variegated thread on top & a lime variegated thread on the bottom - very exciting!

Thanks to Kelly & Darlene for a SUPER DUPER fun quilt along.  I loved how you had the choice between a small or big one.  I can't wait for the next one!

MCGUFFEY...big.

This is really a pretty pattern.  You can see big blocks of the fabric and that's one thing I like about this pattern.  Speaking of fabric, Holly Taylor...AWESOME.  When I use dark colors, I have to step out of my comfort zone.  But the colors she uses are just elegant.  I've seen her lines here and there.  I even have some Migration in my stash but after using Northwood Botanicals - I love her!
