The Giving Quilt Book - GIVEAWAY!

Plume has been gracious enough to give me 2 books and 5 pins to giveaway.  So if you would like the chance to win one of these books or a pin, just leave me a comment...no strings attached - anyone from anywhere can play along...lol!  I will draw on March 30th and notify the winners that evening.

If you are a fan of Jennifer Chiaverini, you can click here to get to her official website.

Here is an excerpt from the book:

At Elm Creek Manor, the week after Thanksgiving is "Quiltsgiving," a time to commence a season of generosity. From near and far, quilters and aspiring quilters—a librarian, a teacher, a college student, and a quilt shop clerk among them—gather for a special winter session of quilt camp to make quilts for Project Linus.
Each quilter, ever mindful that many of her neighbors, friends, and family members are struggling through difficult times, uses her creative gifts to alleviate their collective burden. As the week unfolds, the quilters respond to Sylvia's provocative question in ways as varied as the life experiences that drew them to Elm Creek Manor. Love and comfort are sewn into the warm, bright, beautiful quilts they stitch, and their stories collectively consider the strength of human connection, and its rich rewards.
Featuring not only well-loved characters but intriguing newcomers, The Giving Quilt will remind us all: Giving from the heart blesses the giver as much as the recipient, and while giving may not always be easy, it is always worthwhile.

This post is now closed.  Thanks for playing along.

Winner!!!

My random drawing program (aka my son) picked:  SUNNY!

I'd love to do a post about the quilt I just finished but it's in the process of being shipped to Arizona.  It's going to be a Valentine's gift for her boyfriend...too sweet!  I want her to see it before I post a picture of it...maybe this weekend.  It's already February!?!?!  I've been in lurker mode and will be in lurker mode for a while.  Even though I can't be a part of some of the cool groups out there, it sure has been fun reading/seeing your posts about your projects.

Jan 27, 2012

The year has started out with a bang!  The commercial version...pee-wee basketball has started, I have several quilts I've been commissioned to make, OH! - the fuel pump in my car gave out New Year's Eve...in Biloxi!, it's still in Biloxi and thankfully I had my mom's car to drive back home.  Now I just have to figure out when I'm going back down to get it.  I am in lurker mode in blogland (hopefully not for long).  And a bunch of other stuff has happened but I want to keep this post short...

Anyhoo, I thought I'd take a break tonight and make some key chains.  I saw the recipe on the Moda Bake Shop Blog and I knew I had to make some...you can find it right here.  Then I went on Etsy and placed an order (here).  They were really fun to make!
How about a GIVEAWAY?!?!?!?

If you would like the chance to win one of these key chains (my choice), just leave me a comment.  NOTICE...I am not a professional key chain maker!  These are my practice key chains so there will be a flaw here or there...lol!  I will announce and contact the winner on February 4th.

Have a wonderful weekend!

CONGRATS KRIS!!! LOL!

GIVEAWAY...The Wedding Quilt Book

Nicole over at Dutton, a division of Penguin Group, has been kind enough to let me giveaway a hard cover copy of The Wedding Quilt book!  Here's a little tidbit about the book...

THE WEDDING QUILT is a tribute to one of America’s most romantic and enduring traditions.

Effortlessly weaving together past, present, and future, THE WEDDING QUILT introduces Sarah’s long-awaited twins twenty-fives years into the future. Just as Chiaverini longed for a wedding quilt of her own, Sarah’s daughter also dreams of one with which to begin her marriage. Enlisting the help of her fellow Elm Creek Quilters, Sarah collects signatures of the wedding guests in order to surprise her daughter with a quilt to represent all of her loved ones as she begins her new life. Readers will delight in new insight of past Elm Creek Manor brides as Sarah reflects back on her life and the many joyous experiences she’s had with her friends and family at Elm Creek Manor.

You can find out more about Jennifer Chiaverini on her website.  If you are a fan, you might want to check out the 'events' section to see if she will be in your area...just sayin'.

This giveaway will end on Nov. 15th.  Anyone...from anywhere can enter ~ just leave me a comment.  If you can't wait that long to see if you've won the book, I'm sure Barnes and Noble or Amazon have it in stock.

Day 8...

Welcome to my Ghastlie party!  I am a big fan of Halloween...I love the candy, costumes and the candy...lol!

For this Ghastlie event I made 2 wall hangings, Lil' Twister Table Topper & and an iron pad.

I love stars & was inspired by the 4 picture set you get from a photo booth...like the scene from the Karate Kid (the one with Ralph) where Daniel takes Allie to the arcade & they have their picture made...I digress...

I was inspired by the 'Quilting Ironing Pad' recipe on the Moda Bake Shop.  You can find it right here!  Thank you Kathy for sharing!
If you were following the Wantobe party, Melissa (guest #49) inspired me.  As soon as I finished reading the post, I ordered the Lil' Twister & the Big Twister...LOL!  You can go here to see the original post.

And then just for ducks, I went ahead & made this small wall hanging...

The Devil's Puzzle Book GIVEAWAY!!!

I was asked a couple of weeks ago about possibly doing a giveaway for Clare's new book, The Devil's Puzzle.  I just got these in today and I don't want to wait another minute.  Here's  a little scoop about the book...

Witchcraft in a small New England town typically harkens Salem, Massachusetts.  However, amateur sleuth Nell Fitzgerald finds the upcoming anniversary of Archers Rest, New York drawing out the town’s own dark history of witchcraft, as well as that of its residents in THE DEVIL’S PUZZLE.  Nell is thrilled when her grandmother Eleanor’s boyfriend plans a double surprise—restoring the rose garden of her old Victorian house, and a marriage proposal.   However, Oliver’s plans are put on hold when a skeleton is unearthed in Eleanor’s backyard.  Police Chief Jesse Dewalt launches an investigation, and for once, Nell vows to stay out of his way, instead focusing on organizing a historic quilt show as part of the town’s upcoming anniversary festivities.  When clues lead to questions about Eleanor’s past, Nell is forced to uncover the truth.  As the anniversary approaches, a chilling wave of vandalism strikes town hot spots, raising fears that witchcraft has returned, and revealing secrets that could change life in Archer’s Rest forever.

In addition to being an avid quilter, Clare O’Donohue is a freelance television writer and producer, who has worked on a variety of programs including HGTV’s Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson.  If you are interested to find out more about Clare, you check her out on her website:  http://clareodonohue.com/

SO...the book has mystery & witches, which makes for perfect Halloween reading!  If you would like a chance at winning a copy, just leave me a comment.  Anyone, from anywhere can enter...Good Luck!

I'll do the draw on October 11th (Tuesday) (in the evening)...names on paper put in a fish bowl.  I will then email the winner.  THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW OVER.
